Description

Innocence was created originally for a competition for the Salem Witch Trials Memorial in 1993. I researched extensively about the history of the trials and the innocent people who were persecuted and murdered in that period of time. In asking myself the question “What would show that innocence?” the image appeared to me while driving home. The original image was a nude but for the competition I entered the maquette dressed in period clothing. While not receiving the award for the memorial I decided to go ahead and cast the original nude figure in bronze. It was commissioned in a larger version in 2009.
