Open Studio, Saturday June 22nd
June 22 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$25.00Join us for Open Studio on June 22nd featuring a bronze casting and guided Sculpture Trail tour!
Open Studio is a rare occasion when Andrew shares with attendees the profound knowledge of his art and his craft along with his lifetime journey as an artist. We limit the number of participants to this special afternoon to twelve so that everyone present can be richly rewarded with this remarkable experience.
Andrew will explain a sculpture’s journey from original clay model through the transformation into a vibrant bronze expression of the artist’s vision. The event begins at 1pm with your arrival at DeVries Fine Art International where Patricia will greet you. She will invite you to take a short walk across our meadow or take a brief drive down the road to the casting studio.
Once there everyone will gather outside the casting studio where the bronze pour will take place, promptly at 1:30pm. Andrew will be there, all suited up as he will be tending the furnace. When the metal is at the exact temperature of 2100 degrees Fahrenheit, he will open the furnace, lift out the crucible and pour molten bronze into the molds for new sculptures. Then the explanation of the ancient lost wax process begins with questions always being welcomed. Following the talk you will then be among the few invited to enter his modeling studio to see other new works in progress.
Patricia and Andrew then will guide you on a leisurely tour of their Sculpture Trail along the Westfield River finishing once again at our gallery. This special day’s finale will be the public unveiling of Masquerade Waltz! Afterwards we all relax, mingle and converse while enjoying light seasonal refreshments.
