Description
This photo shows Gordon and his wife at the unveiling of his bronze portrait relief which is installed at the Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Community in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Gordon himself a veteran from Vietnam was paralyzed in the Tet offensive. Upon his return and rehabilitation to the United States he became a lawyer and eventually Secretary of Veterans Affairs. I was honored to have him sit for this portrait. While modeling the clay I learned about his life and career, he strove tirelessly to help veterans.
The facility was built and is maintained by Soldier On. You may learn more about their programs to help homeless men and women veterans here.
