Sculptures and paintings by Andrew DeVries
An award winning master sculptor and founder, Andrew casts his own work in bronze at his atelier in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts. Andrew's career spans four decades. His works are in six continents both in private collections and public installations.
Andrew is most widely recognized for his depiction of ballet dancers in bronze. Dancers themselves have told him that he has captured the essence of dance in these works. Andrew’s full range of styles however reflects his artistic sensibilities and can be seen in his various series.
The artist’s paintings also show his love of dance. Andrew’s career began by drawing dancers in a ballet studio and he returns whenever he can, continually receiving inspiration from the dancers in their unique and special world of the dance studio. The figurative paintings are done in the time honored method of having a model pose for the artist in the studio.
Andrew's wife, Patricia Purdy, directs their Berkshire gallery, DeVries Fine Art International, located at the artist's atelier, River Studios in Middlefield, MA. There is a Sculpture Trail with over twenty works placed among the meadow and shaded knolls. They welcome you to visit whenever you are in the Berkshires.
