Description
First Kiss was created in the romantic city of Rome in 2002 while on my visiting artist sojourn at the American Academy. The work was first created in a smaller version and has long been sold out. I enlarged the relief to over twice the size of the earlier version. It has remained my most well-loved in the romantic series.
The swirl of the modelling in the faces and hair brings out the emotions of that moment of a first kiss: though one time an elderly Oriental gentleman laughingly confided to me, “that does not look like their very first kiss!”
The bronze has a rich ferric nitrate patina that brings out the luster of the bronze. The hair has more applications to bring out a reddish-brown opaque color. This edition is sold out and the mold has been destroyed
