Description
Juliet is a female bronze dance sculpture. The edition has been sold out and the work for sale is the artist proof marked AP I. The molds for this work have been destroyed. The sculpture exudes an emotion of that youthful moment, finding love and yearning to be with the one you love. She rises up on her toes and looks over her shoulder with her arms raised, her hair sweeping to one side.
The inspiration comes from one of the most beloved themes of all times, William Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet. The play has been choreographed as a ballet and composed to music scores by both Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev. Prokofiev’s score is the best known for this ballet.
The play and subsequent ballets are tragedies as both Juliet and Romeo both die in a moving final scene. Juliet though lives on as a legend of youthful love. This Juliet bronze sculpture embodies that legend and comes from the sculptors own personal collection.
