I created this bronze dancer in 1998 and titled it Nocturne. The work shown here is sited at the studios of Pittsburgh Ballet Studios. It was installed there in 2017.
The sculpture was inspired by the music of John Field. He was an Irish composer who is credited with inventing the form of nocturnes for the piano. This size version was commissioned from a small maquette of the same name.
This bronze dancer has been placed both inside homes and in outdoor settings. Currently there is one situated on the Sculpture Trail at River Studios.
