Description
The Seagull is considered by many to be among Andrew’s finest renditions of a ballerina in bronze. This sculpture is a dance portrait of Heather Jurgensen from 2004 who at that time was with the Hamburg Ballet. The artist proof is installed at the Hamburg Ballet School in Germany. She currently is Ballet Mistress for the Keil Ballet in Germany. Her husband Yaroslav Ivanenko is the Artistic Director.
One of his most popular works, the entire edition sold out within six months in 2005. There is only one in the edition available for purchase – the artist’s own casting, number 3 of 12.
Andrew is currently in the process of enlarging this work to a three quarter life size version.
