Figurative paintings

These original, one-of-a-kind figurative paintings are all created from live models. Andrew uses the pastel medium for the paintings. Pastels allow for a spontaneity that suits his desire to experiment. A sense of “play” develops as inspiration takes over while he creates. Andrew quite simply  loves to draw and his line and colors attest to this in these paintings.

The choices of the colors used in these figurative paintings are influenced by Andrew’s earliest love of Impressionism,  artists such as Monet, Degas and the contemporary pastel artist Wolf Kahn. The models’ pose along with the sensuality of the figure suggests which pastels he chooses. The medium itself presents a vibrancy unlike any other along with a freshness and spontaneity.
